Inspiration Ministries exists to help people transform their lives in times of transition.
Extending Grace, Teaching Truth, Transforming Life
Create and sustain programs that allow opportunity for people to identify that their pasts and presents do not have to define their future.
Inspiration Ministries, Inc. was founded in March 2012 in an effort to meet the individual needs of those in DeKalb County lacking resources and skills to access addiction recovery, housing, employment, transportation, and mentoring that are necessary to fully assimilate back into the community. After several years of putting people up in hotels and other means of temporary housing, Inspiration Ministries was able to purchase two small farmsteads just outside Auburn to provide a safe, stable and secure environment from which individual lives might be transformed. This has become known as the Plus One Program. The “ONE” represents Jesus and the work He is doing in the lives of our residents.
The Plus ONE Program focuses on improving six (6) aspects of a person’s life:
Life & Addiction Recovery
Through the years, we’ve made tremendous progress in the design and development of a program that’s producing positive results for men and women in DeKalb and the surrounding counties. This requires a tremendous team effort. It cannot be accomplished by Inspiration Ministries alone. To date, we have partnered with many local agencies and ministries to advance and further our success. As you read through this and get to know us better, we are hopeful that you will share our vision and come along side of us in transforming lives.

Inspiration Ministries is committed to continue developing this evidenced based program that can easily identify progress and measure results. This is accomplished by establishing training and skill development programs directly on our campus or farmstead facilities.
Since June 2018, we have been developing seven (7) acres of the Kray Apple Orchard on State Road 8 in Butler. On this facility are several barns and outbuildings that can be converted and transformed into self-sustaining micro-business operations. Since June, we have been strategically developing a plan that will maximize this space for our residents and the community.
Over the next 7 months, we anticipate spending approximately $47,000 for the following:
Living Waters Farmer’s Market – Opening Day targeted for May 5, 2019
Remodel 2,000 square foot of main produce storage area including commercial refrigeration room. Estimated cost – $7,000.
Remodel showroom area for the use of the market and a thrift shop that will require electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, painting and shelving. Estimated cost – $7,000.
Repair deteriorated trusses in a 2,000 square foot pole barn. Estimated cost – $14,000.
Build loft, grow beds and hang lighting in the pole barn. Estimated cost – $5,000.
Construct 2 to 4 Hoop (Green) Houses. Estimated cost to purchase materials – $6,000.
Plus ONE Program Mechanic Shop – Opening Day targeted for May 5, 2019
Remodel 1,500 square foot of two (2) garage bays, purchase a lift, tools, cabinets and shelving. Estimated cost – $8,000.
All work described above will be performed by the residents in the program under supervision of trained professionals. Once these businesses become operational, men and women in the program will be responsible for sustaining the production and profitability of the venture. This is a wonderful opportunity to build confidence, self-esteem, skills and business acumen to transition and contribute favorably to industry.
Further, the community will benefit from the fresh produce that is grown 11 months out of the year, a great local thrift shop, and the service work performed in the repair and maintenance of vehicles.
