God sure is good all the time! There's nothing like a good ole trip back to prison to remind you how gracious and restorative the Gospel of Jesus Christ really is. Eight team members from Inspiration had the honor to join forces with Dan Evans and Harvest of Life to visit 10 prisons in three days in the state of Florida to share with nearly 750 men and women that they are not forgotten and that they were made for more.
Sometimes it feels like a long time ago, but most of the time it feels so near to me, the time I spent locked up that Jesus used to transform my life and give me a vision for Inspiration Ministries. Now I am celebrating 13 years out and watching God every day do more than I could ever ask or think around me. We are reminded every day that Jesus came to seek and save the least, the last, and the lost. And probably one of the coolest things that we get to experience is that these men and women who are encountering Jesus become change-makers in our communities. They have their families back or are having babies, are now owning homes, and they are contributing members of our community and our churches. What an amazing thing Jesus can do in the lives of those who are willing to surrender!
My hope is that you are inspired to continue the journey with Inspiration as a prayer partner, financial contributor, or a volunteer. If you've never come to the Praise-a-Bration before, please come. You will truly be inspired! Until then, we appreciate your prayers and your encouragement, as we continue to execute the mission and vision the Lord Jesus Christ gave Inspiration Ministries in order to impact the least, the last, and the lost!
Inspiration recently had eight team members travel to Florida for an opportunity to partner with Dan Evans and his Harvest of Life team on an amazing journey. A total of 21 volunteers made two teams to minister to hundreds of men and women in 10 institutions over three days. What an experience! The theme for this trip was “Made for More” which Inspiration appreciates not just for these men and women behind the walls, but for each of our team members. It was so sweet to remind our Brothers and Sisters that their current circumstances don’t dictate what the Lord has in store for them, that they are not defined by their past - they are made for more! It was good to see these men and women, to encourage them, and share the love of Jesus with them. It’s a time of seed planting and connection, and also a time of rejuvination for us. And it is such a good reminder of all the Lord Jesus Christ is willing and able and desiring to do in each one of us!
As we’ve shared throughout the year, we’ve become partners with The Pando App, an organization offering Christian content to incarcerated men and women all over the country. During this trip into Florida prisons, we got to see just how impactful that content and access to the app is. There were several people at each institution that already knew who Inspiration was because of The Pando App and the videos we have posted. We were able to share with them the purpose behind our partnership - our desire to connect with and encourage them specifically, There was such a positive response and appreciation!
A special moment we had at these prisons was teaching the men and women a “hand hug”. What made it even more significant was the ability to share a hand hug without making physical contact, but simply through the air. We were able to pass air hand hugs to the men on death row through the CCTV broadcast of our service at Union CI, and all the men joined us on stage to share that moment - so powerful. And we look forward to maintaining that connection through air hand hugs on The Pando App.
