Letter from the Editor

It is well with my soul! I was reminded last night at our Celebrate Recovery meeting that we do not sing such as It is going to be well or God, you will be good once this is over.  We boldly proclaim that right now, in the midst of my recovery and circumstances, You are good and gracious. That today is the day of salvation and we will together plant a stake in the ground shouting Enemy you can longer have a stronghold on me! No matter the season you are in, God is good, He is kind, and He is for you. Regardless of your crime, sin, or label, Jesus Christ sees it all and is willing to call you by your name!

That is what this season represents: NEW LIFE – RESURRECTED LIFE! Thank you, Jesus, for being the restorer of our lives and faith.

Speaking of new life, I would like to introduce my son, Anthony James Foster, born February 8, 2017. What an absolute joy for my wife and I to expand our family, and take on the responsibility of loving and teaching another life under our roof. LillyAnn is learning to be a big sister, the sleepless nights are filled with cries, whimpers, and dirty diapers. What an awesome privilege that God would allow Kirsten and I to steward another human life. Prayers are already going up that AJ would fall in love with Jesus all on his own. May the Holy Spirit birth faith in him that will surpass the faith of his mom and dad. Hallelujah!

It is important to mention that my son is named after two very good friends of mine, Anthony Ponds and James Summers, both boys in blue, who the Lord knit together in ministry back in our days at Quincy Annex together. These are men that I have seen be transformed by the power of Jesus Christ. These men are not invincible by any means, but through 15- and 20-year sentences respectfully, I have seen a pursuit of holiness that resembles the desire I want for AJ. In the same breath, I am reminded that my hope is for Anthony James to resemble our ultimate example of integrity and character, Jesus Christ.

Though I sometimes only write one page to leave room for the incredible testimonies and articles within these newsletters, the timing coincides with a message that I am preparing to preach this weekend about the essential of service. I am going to take some time to share what the Lord has placed on my heart in regards to service. I hope that it is a blessing.

Brothers and Sisters, look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Remember that it is well right now because we serve a God that has overcome the world. We are more than conquerors. Jesus loves you and we love you. We are in this together. Don’t ever forget that!

  • robert miller"A year ago my world was shifted. I was discouraged, alone, and in need of something/someone to embrace me. It would be pious to say, “All I needed was the assurance that the Lord was with me,” because reality is sometimes you don’t feel that more

  • david owen"The newsletter is an integral part of my daily spiritual walk in prison. I don’t say that lightly and here’s why: “For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV). The newsletter is primarily written by prisoners and ex-prisoners for more
